Finally after months of waiting the official format for PT3 is here. I can only comment on the English paper format. It is almost the same as the one leaked previously. Except with a few twist. For one thing, the sample for section B which is information transfer is easier for the student versus the leaked sample. As it follows what is usually is in the text book. Another thing I noticed is the inclusion of a small section for poems and novels. Many teachers have spoken about the exclusion of literature in the leaked version.

The number of essay have also came down. If looking at the leaked sample there is a total of 3 writing tasks (50 words, 100 words and 150-200 words essay). The official format only have a 50 words short response essay, and another 120-150 words essay in section D.

All I can say that is I’m quite happy with the format. Not many repetitive task as compared with the leaked version.

PMR Results 2008

The PMR results was announced today, and my students did amazingly despite the adversity that faces them. 2 of them got 8As another 2 got 7As. Consider the fact that they study at a school that is 45km into the jungle from Gua Musang. Also that they had little if not none at all tuition outside of school.
I’m both happy and proud. Taught them English from Form 1 till Form 3, and the seed have blossomed into trees, now its time to pass them on to other teachers while I myself will now go back and teach a new batch of Form 1s. đŸ™‚
The school overall result was also quite good. Went up from No 7(last) in the district to No. 2 in the district. Good enough for me I say, u can’t expect miracles to happen do u :p Our last minute effort was actually to do floating/streaming classes for English and did some very intensive exercises designed for their level. All the other English teacher pitched in even those that didn’t teach Form 3s at first. One teacher even agreed to teach more periods so that she can teach the form 3 students.
Overall pass for English went up from 30% to 52% this year, and I can definitely see some smiling faces. I hope that we can keep it up next year.
