Happy Chinese New Year 2009
2Happy Chinese New Year to everybody, celebrating or not. Me I’m just enjoying the extra long holiday. Malaysians are crazy about holiday. There are 100++ days that Malaysian do not work. So how are we going to achieve that developed country status if we love holidays that much. A question to ponder on I suppose ![]()
One thing that I hate about this type of holidays is the jams. Its long enough that ppl wants to go back to their village/parents’ home but short enough that they all do it during the same period of time. Plus all the kenduri make it all the worst. Jams are ok to me if its in big city with multiple routes to use, but jams in small roads just don’t work for me.
Combine that with idiot drivers? Road bully? Road Hog? Hell on road! So my advice to those idiots from KL or wherever plz don’t drive as if u are still back in KL, do have some manners. Leave ur nasty habits back at wherever you call ur home/place of work/whatever.
We have enough issues coping with the jam what with u lot coming back, don’t make us sumpah2 u some more.
On that note Happy Chinese New Year, be safe on the road!

PMR Results 2008
2The PMR results was announced today, and my students did amazingly despite the adversity that faces them. 2 of them got 8As another 2 got 7As. Consider the fact that they study at a school that is 45km into the jungle from Gua Musang. Also that they had little if not none at all tuition outside of school.
I’m both happy and proud. Taught them English from Form 1 till Form 3, and the seed have blossomed into trees, now its time to pass them on to other teachers while I myself will now go back and teach a new batch of Form 1s. ![]()
The school overall result was also quite good. Went up from No 7(last) in the district to No. 2 in the district. Good enough for me I say, u can’t expect miracles to happen do u
Our last minute effort was actually to do floating/streaming classes for English and did some very intensive exercises designed for their level. All the other English teacher pitched in even those that didn’t teach Form 3s at first. One teacher even agreed to teach more periods so that she can teach the form 3 students.
Overall pass for English went up from 30% to 52% this year, and I can definitely see some smiling faces. I hope that we can keep it up next year.

Happy 1430 Hijri
0New Year, new expectation, new resolutions?
Mine? Simple, be a better person ![]()
The day was spent mostly at home, holiday isn’t it
Though did go out with the wife to the wet market to get some groceries. Initially I planned to go to KL, to do some shopping, alas no tickets were to be found, no bus no train even
I guess a lot of ppl are going back to KL after the long hol. So better I just resort to internet shopping hehe ![]()
So what did you do today?
A Year Younger A Day Older
1Alhamdulillah, it’s my birthday again
Thank you for all the wishes, either thru FB, YM, SMS and definitely IRL wishes ![]()
This year has definitely been something, from being a husband to a dad in mere months
I accept the responsibility gladly, if not gracefully
Also had to juggle between work and home, having to teach PMR (English) and SPM (Biology) in the same year have been a challenge. Made more friends, met new people, and also was given more responsibility both at work and at home.
Tiring? Yes. Worth it? Definitely!
Hopes that in this year to come I have more to show for my age
I do have something cooking, but it will not realize itself this year, next year… perhaps ![]()
Thanks to everyone who have made this year of my life most enjoyable.

Eidul Adha 1429
0As per the years before, when we talk about Eidul Adha, then it means that we are going to eat a lot of meat. Take for instance this year, from the first day I have been eating meat and meat and more meat. From Sate’s to Roti Jala with Chicken & Beef Kuzi. Today I went to my wife’s aunt we had some more meat! She made some Meccan Rice cuisine, and as per the norm for arabic food it contained a lot of meat! She lived there with her husband for a number of year so understandably it was good. ![]()
What does eating all these meat mean to me. It means that my blood pressure will surely rise, in fact I can feel the beginning of a headache. It also mean that I will not be able to eat meat for a month or two just to get my blood pressure back under control. The price you have to pay for eating delicious foods. What is done is done ![]()
Alya also had her share of the fun, she behaved very well when we went visiting family and friends. Even got her self some Duit Raya too. If only they would give it to her papa as well
Hope you guys had as much fun during your eid celebration as I did (Alya did!).

Too Long Too Hectic
0The past few weeks have been hectic, I don’t really know what happened but time just flew and I forgot entirely to update the blog ![]()
Sorry if my absent mindedness causes a lot of anxiety
(like ppl read the blog pon!)
So we had a splendid raya, visited relatives as usual, went to more houses this year, bringing along Alya, she behaved nicely like a good girl she was, the only thing is she get hots easily and will make a fuss if we stay too long at a house
She likes to be on the move!
Then after the raya it was busy busy school days again. Last week I only went to school for 1 day, the rest was spent with the district volleyball team, I was entrusted to coach the Under15 team. We only had 4 days to train…. the Girls managed to get into the semi final and left with the Bronze Medal
Was really proud of them. Sadly, the Boys didn’t even pass the group prelims.. happy and sad at the same time ![]()
While at the games I was informed that I would have to go to a Mini Games Carnival and was appointed as the referee for Volleyball. The wife also called to tell me that I was also appointed as an invigilator for SPM. So that means that this week I will only have 2 days to go to school, tomorrow and the day after. Next week I will no longer be at school. Didn’t expect that it would be this hectic at year end because usually there will be no more activities at this time of the year.
But I welcome it anyway, because I like it
You may have expected that anyway
Because when it is hectic, it means that I get more done. Plus, my time with the students have been realy maximized and there’s nothing more that I can do with/for them. The baton has been passed to them. I do hope that they would do well in Biology this year.
Best of all, my wife has been very understanding throughout this hectic period, considering the fact that I will be leaving her again next week
I think that’s all that I could jot down today, probably I would do another entry after this. ![]()

Ramadhan 1429H Cameron Highland Trip
7It is now a week into the month of Ramadhan. As a sort of celebration of Ramadhan and because of our belated anniversary. I took the wife and baby to Cameron Highlands for 3 days and 2 night.
Actually we are very familiar with CH as my wife worked there for 3 years. We stayed at an aparment which is owned by my wife’s friend. It was very comfortable, 3 bedroom 2 bathroom, comes fully furnished. Quite a homely feeling. As my wife commented, even our house at Gua Musang doesn’t have a sofa ![]()
51st National Day
0Today is our nation’s 51st national day, yes I prefer the word national day as opposed to “independence”. Why?
First of all I truly believe we have not even one bit loosen the shackles that was left by our colonizer.
Our minds and our lifestyle is still tied to the old ways as dictated by them.
Second one is, because Malaysia was only born years later on September 16, 1963 as such the 51st Merdeka is only of the States of Malaya.
This year the theme is “Perpaduan Teras Kejayaan” as the saying goes, “bersatu kita maju, bercerai kita roboh” or “united we stand, divided we fall”. A most suitable theme when there is much tension and emotions running wild in the country.
Peace my friends,

Short Holiday 2008
0My mid sem holiday is somewhat over. I’m already back at Gua Musang. Am here early so that I can start on the new timetable as well as properly putting the stuff that I moved from the old house.
So how did I spent my short holiday, basically there was not much that I did, I attended a relative’s wedding. It was a simple affair nothing grand but the atmosphere was definitely festive.
The Imam that did the solemnization was really funny, first he made the groom really nervous by purposely saying another person’s name. Then he gave the usual wedding sermon. After the solemnization is the really funny part. He then transformed into the wedding director. Even telling the newly weds what to do. For instance he told the groom to put on the ring to the wife’s finger and then counted so that the photographers get a chance to snap pictures. Then he instructed the groom to kiss the bride and then counted very fast saying that it needn’t be too long as they have other times to do it as long as they want.
On another note, Alya is not feeling pretty well lately she has been coughing and the doctor have given her some medication. But the cough have not really subsided so far.
Alya is also pretty heavy right now. When we weighted her at 1 month old she was already 3.6kg an increment of 500 grams then at 2 months old her weight shot up to 4.7kg. I bet when we weigh her next she’ll be close to 6 or 7kg.
Till next time
