47th Merdeka

1

My merdeka celebration this year, was … normal? Did nothing much actually… just went to my mom’s school for a few hours as they were having an “Ambang Merdeka” thingy. Took a few pictures of the various performances…. the cutest performance was surely the one by the pre-schoolers… and they had also a nasyid group comprised mostly of standard 2 and 3s …. and as usual they just can’t leave out a Dikir Barat performance.
Was watching the whole thing for 2 hours, then I got bored. So I left early, around 11 pm… leaving my mom and dad there. Watched the tele at home till 12pm. Didn’t actually get to see the countdown as I was busy watching a chinese movie.. eheh.. so unpatriotic huh? Not really, coz as Marina Mahathir once said in her article.. you can’t really measure whether a person is patriotic or not thru his way of celebrating Merdeka. Instead it may be the little things he did for Merdeka that says it all. I did make a short compilation of Patriotic Songs video Smile Guess that will be patriotic enough for me this year… bone tired after all that. Razz
Happy Merdeka Day to all Malaysian. We may yet know the true meaning of Merdeka one day Smile
MERDEKA!!!

The Top Drawer

4

Was watching Fear Factor just now, when I got a call from a girl, asking whether I still recognize her, she told me that she once sent me a pic and a letter.
So that led me to rummage thru the top drawer. The said drawer contains almost all of my communique with almost everyone. It brought a whole load of nostalgia.
Things I found,
* Pics, mostly of me and my friends and also a few self photos (I don’t like being photographed?)
* Letters, mostly from pen-pals and old friends keeping in touch. My ex was once a pen-pal of mine so there’s a bit of her letters too. (and no I don’t feel any need to throw anything… everything is a reminder and doesn’t really bother me that much)
* Cards, ranges from Raya, Thank You, Birthday and Farewell cards. The one that touches me the most comes from a college-mate which was also my “adik angkat”. She’s a very good writer… nuff said Smile
* Name list of participant of the various convention, camp that I went to. (habit…)
* A design for my club t-shirt. More of a gang not a club…. Smile The LAP club as we used to call it…. Lite And Perky… coz we had fun every time and everyday…. sort of a bowling club if u want to call it coz we do go bowling frequently. Grin
and from trying to recall a name of a girl which I happen to not have the pic or the letter.. I was led to recall the last 6 – 7 years of my life.. 8-} heheh

Almost Over

1

The holiday is almost over and I’m still stuck with work. Smile There’s still that pile of exam papers to be marked. The VCD to be edited and produced. But I guess I’ll manage, as always.. Smile
But to be sure I know that there is still a ton more work waiting for me at school. Still have to work on that computer, that refuses to be installed with XP. The crazy DHCP server that refuses to work with the switch that I have. But I guess it will be done.. slowly if not faster.. Grin
So I’m off again to watch another set of movies (see this is how I get lagged behind work.. catching up on movies…)

p/s: next entry will try to talk about my other issues…

Rantau Panjang n Bootleg Merchandises

7

Just got back from Rantau Panjang with my cousins. Actually today one of my cousin got engaged. The engagement party was done in a very simple manner. You can’t over do it anyway. As far as I know they didn’t discuss anything, ’cause that have been settled between my cousin and her fiance. Afterwards a few photo there and here, some food to be eaten and that’s it.
And after the engagement they were going to show the way to the male side to Rantau Panjang. They wanted to go shopping. So I tagged along with them, considering I had nothing better to do anyway.
So we got there around 4pm++ looked around a bit, I was thinking of just window shopping and not really buying anything actually. But I ended up with 2 football jerseys and a pair of ray-bans. That’s enough for me anyway. Didn’t bring that much money anyway eheheh Razz
*added*
The jerseys that I bought are certainly bootleg… you don’t go to Rantau Panjang to buy originals anyway Smile But still within the bootleg sphere there is a Class A or Class B jerseys… usually the Class B are lower class merchandises and priced lower than Class A. But you are bettter off buying Class A, looks closer to the original and lasts longer. Anyway at these stalls, the priced aren’t really fixed and it all depends on how good you are at bargaining. Me I was lucky, that afternoon I got among the best prices for everything that I bought heheh Smile
The rest of the time was spent waiting for the others to finish shopping. You know how women/girl shop. Very picky and tedious, if they can visit the whole market then they will. I managed to get home around 7pm just enough time for Asar.
*added*
While waiting for the other to finish shopping, I was lepaking with my cousins, and there was a group of girls near us. I had fun teasing one of my cousin to approach the girls. Seriously that boy is totally shy. Makes u wonder whether he’s going to a single sex school or not. Smile (no he doesn’t) Even after offering tidbits bout the girl to get him started (I told him her age and also her name… )yet he wouldn’t budge.. heheh Big Smile another time perhaps. Razz

School Hols Is Here

3

It is school hols and I’m gonna try to enjoy it as best as I could. Yet unlike my students I can’t really enjoy it. I’m stuck with tons of exam papers to mark. Oh well, I asked for it Smile Still, it is not that many anyway.
Gonna have to start digging into the papers soon. For today I’m just gonna enjoy the holiday. Plan to do some movie marathon, actually I’ve started watching a few movies. Watched Alien Versus Predator. For those who have watched both the Alien and Predator movie and are clueless where they got the idea to do a Versus movie. Guess what, they got the idea from a computer game. My friend used to play that all the time. Anyway the movie as usual with any action movies these days lack any real substance, and yes the action was good. Though I can say that it didn’t give me the same kind of chill that I had running thru my spine when I watched the Alien series. Maybe because of the high pace and you don’t really get enough time to get scared.
I still have a few more movies to go through, there’s the Highwaymen, Princess Diaries 2, Yu Gi Oh The Movie, Touching The Void, Breakin All The Rules and Little Black Book. As you can see there’s a mix of everything there. From romantic comedy to action thriller.. Grin Just trying to diversify my movies interests Smile I’m also still trying to get a hand on Napoleon Dynamite, Without A Paddle and also the Manchurian Candidate.

Test What Test?

4

Yeah I took a test, some of you might know what it is. Anyway it was the MTeST. The test is for those who wants to do KPLI. 2 and a half hour of sweating. Saw some frustrated ppl after the test. Seriously, the questions were a bit tough. Even had some analytical questions, equivalent to IQ tests. Thankfully I managed to pull through. I don’t think I’ll even get near to a 100 for it though (azya jgn berlagak Razz ).
Anyhow, I only got to know that there was a textbook for it the day before the test. And it was by chance… My mom was chatting with a relative over the phone and the topic of me going to go for the test came up and he responded by saying that his son got a copy of the textbook as he is also sitting for the test. So we went over to have a look at the sample questions and textbooks. (5 of em!) Perghhh the question was very tricky… thankfully the real one wasn’t that tricky. But I couldn’t get a copy of the textbook as it was friday and all the shops are closed (note: This is Kelantan not KL) and he was still reading the books.
And yes, I am serious about making teaching my career. Why not, it’s a noble profession. And I like working with people, beats the crap outta my stagefright. (yes I used to have stagefright). And it’s fun! ehehehe
After the test, I went to KB to buy a new UPS. Now I’m not worried about blackouts anymore. Previously my house had problems with multiple blackouts in a week, and I was worried that my Hard-disks might get fried because of it. Problem solved… I hope.

The Missing 7 Kilos

4

It seems that I’m missing 7 kilos. Where it go and how it went missing, I’m not so sure.
2 months back I was at my sis’ place in Sabah and happened to just weighted myself, and I had a shocking awakening .. I was damn fat!!! Over my usual weight by kilos and kilos and kilossssss… it was 85kg (kalau tgk gamba sure tak caya 85kg Razz)
And the other day at USM, a friend of mine invited me to donate blood with him. So I said yes. And as usual before u can donate blood u have to do some test, and I also had to weight myself. And I stood for quite a long time on the weight coz I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. The needle pointed to 78kg. Eh where did my 7kg went haaaa….. and all the time that I was donating blood. I was only thinking of my 7kg.
Did work stress really got to me? 1 and a half month of work and I’m down by 7 kilos… wahhh so nice… by the end of the year I’ll be back to my 2nd year weight .. or even more… matric or high school weight….
The thought of the Herbal Medicine that I took also comes into mind. Coz for two day during my first few week at work I ate some Herbal Remedy that my mom got for me. She was worried coz at that time I looked fat. Maybe it was the medicine, maybe it was work… wait and see… we will know eventually.

After 5 Years

10

After 5 years of pain and torment finally I got my degree. Bachelor of App. Sc. maaa. Took 2 years longer than most other people. But I think the experience was enriching, and I get to see and to know more ppl that way. Hehe, reminder next time “jangan cari pasal” with the lecturers. Ekekekek.
Anyhow my convocation went thru just fine, no hiccups no mishaps what so ever. I was in the last session (9th session to be exact). But I got to be the 23rd person to receive my scroll on that day. Thus I was left a bit bored. Grin Had to wait for the rest of the 400++ ppl to get their scroll before I can get out. And nobody had any major mishaps for my session. No falling skullcap or anything. We even got compliments from the Marshalls saying that we were the best session. Yeah right Razz
Ok la, gonna bunk right now.. still tired from the bus trip.

A New Hostee On Board

1

Yes, I’ve got a new hostee, plz welcome Azya-chan a fellow Malaysian who blogs from Japan. For your information, Azya also ranks as the highest outgoing link from this website (I.O.W. the most popular link). So instead of letting the link just go out unnecessarily, its going back in. Hurrah !! The setup was a breeze, altogether it took us, 30 minutes including troubleshooting some stuff with Blogger.
I’m happy to receive her as a hostee, as she writes rather interesting stuffs. And it happens to be that she is among my first few blogger friend that I got to know. Heck she has been writing longer than I do. So have fun reading her blog, savor the little tid bits from the land of the rising sun.
Oh btw, I’ve also gotten myself a GMail account courtesy of Azya. Woohoo 1GB email (like my 800mb acct is not enough). Thanks Smile
Adieu Rose
